Wrightway Construction was engaged by the homeowners to carry out the full demolition and rebuild of their character home in Heathcote Valley, following damage sustained during the Canterbury Earthquakes.
During the initial investigation, asbestos was identified in the original structure, a common occurrence in homes built around the 1910’s. This was safely removed in accordance with NZ Building Code requirements, ensuring the safety of both our team and the surrounding community.
Site excavation presented challenges due to soil contamination; however, this crucial step was necessary to achieve a level foundation and ensure the long-term integrity of the new build. Once completed, the concrete slab was prepped and poured, followed by the installation of services and utilities marking the beginning of the home taking shape.
To retain its character charm, James Hardie Linea Weatherboard cladding was selected for the exterior. Comfort and efficiency were prioritised inside the home, with double-glazed windows and a Masport solid fuel heater providing warmth during the colder months.
The completed build features a contemporary three-bedroom layout with a central bathroom, separate laundry, and open-plan kitchen, living and dining area. Outdoor living is maximised through a combination of smooth concrete and Kwila decking- providing a functional and inviting space to enjoy year-round.
